HOW THE IDEA OF LITTLE DIPPER CAME TO LIFE...
There were so many babies at the pool that day! Public pool regulations require a non-potty trained child to wear a swim diaper while submerged. We kept disposable swim diapers on deck for any families who weren't aware and did not bring one. I handed out over a dozen diapers that day.
After my 5th one or so, I got the ick. What I mean by that is, if it takes regular diapers upwards of 500 years to break down in a landfill, how long does a water-resistant one take?
LONG STORY LONGER
That night is where my research began. Why were people choosing disposable? What types of reusable swim diapers were out there? Why were these moms paying top dollar for a cute swimmy, but then putting a disposable diaper in it that could be seen from all sides, ruining the appeal? What role was I playing in handing them out?
The discovery after ordering over a dozen brands: Disposable diapers were the convenient choice, especially when all of the reusable ones had tacky print, appeared bulky, and uncomfortable .
There is little to no research about the breakdown of disposable swim diapers.
Moms were buying cute suits unaware that they were missing the most practical feature—the diaper needed for their baby to swim in it. Enter Little Dipper!
